Our well wishes and wishing safety to all workers facing difficult times together in this COVID-19 pandemic, the Finding-Rights Union sends its regards. The 'Finding-Rights Union' is a Korean trade union for workers that are excluded from labour rights organizations despite being similar to normal workers and doing the same jobs. Through the Finding-Rights Union members can band together in order to protect the rights, improve working conditions, and strengthen the political, economic and social status of all working people. Under the slogan "In 2021, Rights with Trade Unions", we will attempt to report the establishment on trade unions to the South Korean government at midnight on New Year's Day. In Korea, in particular, there are tens of thousands of workers who cannot organize or even join their own unions. They are commonly referred to as ‘freelancers,’ ‘irregular workers,’ ‘platform workers’, or ‘gig workers.’ Their work is deliberately disguised as individual businesses, depriving them of a proper recognition and worker rights, resulting in their freedom to gather and organize is suppressed. Now we want to take the momentous step of reforming Korean society's labor laws by obtaining freedom for founding trade unions for workers who have been discriminated against by the Korean legal system and vulnerable working conditions. Despite our differences in languages, national background, as workers sharing in the endeavor of constructing all things in all corners of the world, we fully appreciate labor rights. Please participate in our efforts that expands the rights of all workers in the world, including Korea. The workers in South Korea are requesting letters of support from your union or organization to the government of Korea to promote the formation of trade unions as well as promoting the rights of all workers to come together. As companions in this struggle, the 'Finding-Rights Union' would like to request a message of international solidarity. Workers unable to organize unions and deprived of workers' rights are taking a precious step towards reforming the working conditions of Korean society. Your message from support at the outset of the 'Finding-Rights Union' to remind the world of the right of all workers to come together is valuable to the cause. The solidarity message you send will be appended to the union's report and sent to the South Korean government. We are planning to live stream this event as a festival, celebrating not only a new year, but new foundations for the future of workers across the globe. Thank you.
